Set amongst the rolling hills and forests of Dumfries & Galloway, Hazyview promises contemporary living in an idyllic, rural location: A spaciously designed bungalow, built to modern specifications, whilst retaining the traditional Scottish style within the tiny village of Waterbeck. Owners Tony and Carol Dilger have drawn on their creativity as artists and photographers to design an elegant home within beautiful surroundings. And now they're ready to welcome guests.
Situated 3 miles from the M6/A74 motorway, Hazyview is a handy stopover on the journey north to the Highlands or south to the Lakes and Dales, not to mention the perfect base for exploring the rich diversity of Dumfries & Galloway.
Your hosts Tony & Carol
Our story starts in Yorkshire, but we have long cherished the prospect of relocating to the Scottish Borders, an area we have grown to love over many visits. As professional wildlife photographers, we have always regarded Dumfries & Galloway as one of Scotland's best kept secrets; a quiet backwater and safe haven for wildlife...but shush, don't tell anyone!
We now provide guided photography workshops and one-to-one tuition, with or without accommodation. We look forward to being your hosts and our attention to detail will ensure your stay is comfortable, relaxed and unforgettable.
This light and airy south-facing room charms with pale colours and a homely feel; a cosy space to snooze, watch TV, relax or download the day's pictures.
Or simply indulge yourself in the luxurious private bathroom, whether that's a refreshing shower or a dip in the designer bath.
Room rate including full English breakfast: £60
Boasting a king-size bed and en-suite with huge shower, the "old colonial" elegance of this room is inspired by our travels in South Africa, where we frequently visit places more "English" than England itself.
The room is very quiet and peaceful with views across the garden and meadow towards distant woodlands.
Room rate including full English breakfast: £80
With under floor heating, open-plan layout and luxury bathrooms, Hazyview delivers comfort with contemporary style. We've loved turning Hazyview from a house into a home and our creative touches are evident throughout the house.
Our tastes and influences aren't particularly Scottish and many of our ideas are inspired by our travels with a camera.
Harking back to our Yorkshire roots, our guest rooms are named Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside, after the famous Three Peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. All have TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast...and maybe dinner
Carol is a formidable cook given the facilities at her disposal here at Hazyview, a far cry from the brekkie-in-the-bush served up on African safaris. A Hazyview breakfast is the perfect start to the day, made with top quality ingredients, sourced locally. Evening meal is available on request. Please advise us in advance of any special dietary requirements.
